Capture the Spirit of The Holiday Season on Cape Cod

The holiday spirit is alive and well, surrounding us all on Cape Cod. It’s another one of the wonderful things that makes living on Cape Cod such a joy. This year, the mild weather is cooperating so that you may enjoy many of the holiday happenings across the area. You can participate in town holiday strolls, enjoy seasonal concerts, visit craft exhibits and shows, unique shops and stores and check off items on your holiday shopping list.

Christmas comes alive at Heritage Museum & Gardens in Sandwich with the annual Gardens Aglow Festival which runs through December 27 (closed on Christmas Day). Gardens Aglow features a whopping nine miles of lighting displays throughout its award winning gardens. This is a great place to take the family, especially the little ones who will marvel at model train exhibit and the automobile gallery where they will find Santa eager to hear their holiday wishes on a vintage Model T. The Annual Glassblowers' Christmas at the Sandwich Glass Museum on Main Street in the Village runs through December 30, 2015. The Sandwich Glass Museum is all dressed up for the Holidays. In addition to the spectacular glass exhibits the Museum is known for worldwide, this time of year features special trees decorated with hundreds of unique glass ornaments created by some of the region's foremost glass artists. Also running all December long, the Train to Christmas Town aboard Cape Cod Central Railroad. Kids get to meet Bumblebee the Polar Bear, Santa’s Elves and even the Big Guy himself. www.traintochristmastown.com

Grownups can pick up holiday decorating tips at Holidays at Highfield in Falmouth through December 27. The theme for this year’s event is international holiday decorations.  Like an Advent Calendar, there’s always something new and interesting happening here during the month of December including a holiday concert and holiday spiral walk. www.highfieldhallandgardens.org

The Cape Cod Chorale can be heard Saturday December 12th in Sandwich and Sunday December 13th in Hyannis. Celebrating their 33rd year, this concert is called " Winter Wonderland: Silly and Serious Seasonal Songs"! A couple of Kinlin Grover's own are in this group making magnificent music! Osterville has been holding its annual Christmas Open House and Stroll for the past 46 years. Folks have enjoyed this wonderful event that features horse drawn carriage rides, trolley rides and plenty of holiday music on Main Street. Even the toughest Scrooges find their holiday spirit here.

Chatham’s Orpheum Theater is offering quite a treat; two showings of the holiday classic It’s a Wonderful Life on December 15th at 2pm and 7pm. Experience the Jimmy Stewart – Donna Reed classic on the big screen and watch Clarence the Angel finally earn his wings.
