Art & Culture Matter on Cape Cod

Last night, enjoying the 26th annual Pops in the Park Concert benefiting arts on Cape Cod, this long time Cape resident felt very appreciative of our supportive community that allows arts to thrive here.photograph of Pops in the Park logo from Cape Cod 5

The concert, presented by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and Cape Cod 5 is held annually at Eldridge Park in Orleans, MA. Kinlin Grover Real Estate is also a proud annual sponsor of the event. The performance attendees enjoyed the talents of the 75 professional members of the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director, and Conductor, Jung Ho Pak. Joining Pak and the orchestra on stage last night was two-time Grammy winner, billboard chart-topper and pop music icon, Sheena Easton. It was quite a night!

Ho Pak is an absolute joy as a conductor, artist, host and entertainer. Pak's magnetic personality and enthusiasm for all kinds of music has drawn him a very large and loyal fan base. He doesn’t just conduct the orchestra; he becomes completely entwined with the musical performance. The entertainment value of Pak's performances extends far beyond listening to wonderful music. It includes enjoying this brilliant conductor become one with the music, where at times, it seems he is dancing as much as he is leading the ensemble of musicians.

The success of this annual concert is truly a collaborative effort by the local community. The effort includes the tremendous hard work of The Arts Foundation staff, their summer interns, corporate sponsors, countless volunteers and the good people of the Town of Orleans.

Much of the conversation heard among concertgoers included sentiments of how lucky we all are to be on Cape Cod, where around every corner you’ll find an art gallery, a theatre or a band playing on a village green. It was truly a very appreciative audience.

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod presents Pops in the Park, along with a host of other performances, concert series, art exhibits, scholarships presentations, awards receptions and other events through out the year. The foundation is an extremely active organization with a very worthy mission: to support, promote, celebrate, strengthen and advocate for arts and culture throughout the year, ensuring the vibrancy of Cape Cod’s cultural community and cultural economy.

As requested by David B. Kaplan, Executive Director, The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod – "always remember that Art Matters!"
